Our research interest includes the synthesis and fabrication of functional nanostructures and molecular sensing systems, and the investigation at single-molecule and nanometer scale using scanning probe microscopies(SPM): atomic force microscopy (AFM), near-field scanning optical microscopy (NSOM), scanning confocal microscopy (SCM) and scanning tunneling microscopy (STM).

The current research efforts are aimed at:

(1) fluorescence sensors and switches for nanoscale probing and molecular electronic devices
(2) dimensional control of self-assembly of perylene based organic semiconductor materials

(3) Development of Novel Photocatalysts for Degradation of Organic Pollutants and Exploration of the Mechanism at the Single-Molecule Level: an international collaboration project.
