Enzymatic Conversion of Carbon Dioxide to Methanol

The pores of the sol-gels can be used as nano-reactors for biocatalytic reactions. This feature can be used for immobilization of different enzymes. The gels containing the enzymes act as versatile catalysts to perfrom diverse chemical transformations that are aided by the porous structure of the gels. The sol-gel containing encapsulated biomolecules have been used for conversion of carbon dioxide to methanol through a sequential biocatalytic pathway.
